The Barbera d'Alba Suculé from Cascina Lo Zoccolaio comes from vineyards located in Barolo and Monforte d'Alba, facing south-southeast, at 300 metres above sea level on marly-limestone soils. After the October harvest, done strictly by hand as a tradition, only the best grapes from the 2 vineyards are selected. The grapes are then destemmed, softly pressed and fermented in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 30° C. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages in French barriques for 18 months and ages in the bottle for 6 months before being sold (the company has chosen a high-quality bottle, with heavy glass, for a better and longer conservation). BARBERA D'ALBA SUCULÉ LO ZOCCOLAIO: TASTING Cascina Lo Zoccolaio's Barbera d'Alba Suculé is bright ruby red; the nose has lots of fruit, blackberry and raspberry jam first, aromatic herbs and a touch of sweet spices. The mouth is soft and at the same time taut, long and tasty. Excellent wine, slightly refreshed, to accompany the whole meal, it is perfect for fresh rigatoni with sausage and mushroom ragout.
